Although s'mores are traditionally a campfire treat I think they work great as movie snacks too. They are very popular in the U.S and Canada where biscuits called Graham Crackers are used. Since these are unavailable in many parts of the world here is a version of s’mores using a more widely available biscuit.
You will need...
- 8 digestive biscuits (or any plain biscuits available where you live)
- 12 squares of chocolate (milk or dark it’s up to you.)
- 8 medium sized marshmallows
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius (160 fan-forced).
- Place 4 biscuits, on an oven tray lined with baking paper.
- Place 3 squares of chocolate on each biscuit, not too close to the edge.
- Cut the marshmallows in half and put four halves on each biscuit
- Place the other 4 biscuits on top of the marshmallows.
- Put the tray in the oven and cook for 4-6 minutes, or just until the chocolate and marshmallows have melted. Keep your eye on them so they don’t burn!
- Remove from the oven and enjoy!
Warning: As this picture shows, these are very messy!
Malteser Milkshakes:
Again, milkshakes aren’t traditional movie food, but who cares? These are delicious and extremely easy. If maltesers aren’t your thing why not try replacing them with kitkats, mars bars or whatever your favourite kind of chocolate is.
You’ll need...
· 8 scoops of vanilla ice cream
· 150g of maltesers
· 500mL of milk
· 3 heaped tablespoons of Milo or other chocolate drinking powder available where you live.
Serves 4
1. Put all the ingredients in the blender.
2. Blitz until smooth. (If the mixture seems to thick, add more milk and if it isn't thick enough add more ice cream.)
3. Pour into 4 tall glasses, and enjoy!

Caramel Popcorn:
You couldn’t have a section on movie snacks without including popcorn. I personally have always preferred sweet popcorn to savoury popcorn and this is delicious, probably because it is mainly butter and sugar...Oh well.
For this recipe you can either have your popcorn chewy or crunchy. I've given you the crunchy recipe but if you want chewy popcorn or you're in a rush, skip steps 1 and 10.
You will need...
· 100g plain microwave popcorn
· 125g unsalted butter
· 150g brown sugar
· 1/2 tsp salt
· 1/2 tsp (heaped) bi-carb soda
· 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Serves 4-5 (it won't look like much but this is very sweet)
1. Preheat your oven to 120 degrees celsius
2. Pop the microwave popcorn according to instructions on pack and set aside in large bowl.
3. Put the butter in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute on high.
4. Stir in salt and then add sugar.
5. Return to the microwave for 3 minutes on a medium-high power.
6. Whisk the mixture then microwave again on high power for 2 minutes.(note: don't be alarmed if it starts bubbling violently)
7. Remove from heat and stir in bi-carb soda very quickly, followed immediately by vanilla essence.
8. Whisk until fully combined then pour it over the popcorn.
9. Toss the popcorn and the caramel together quickly until popcorn is coated.
10. Put the popcorn into a glass or casserole dish and bake for 15-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until the caramel has hardened on the popcorn.
